Hebden Bridge 3 – People

One of the things that I enjoyed most about my visit to Hebden Bridge in June 2022, was the relaxed atmosphere and the willingness of people to allow me to photograph them – like the street musician below.

He seemed ever so cheerful, but I think that I should show him also in his context in the market square.

I didn’t have to walk very much further to see the man below, singing and playing his guitar in the shopping centre.

I saw this man below, who wasn’t obviously busking, just sat on a bench in the gardens and strumming.

The older gent below was walking towards me as I headed back to the railway station. I told him that I liked his cowboy outfit and asked him to pose for a photo. He obliged immediately.

I saw this young man earlier in the afternoon on his e-scooter and wearing a covid-19 mask. Good for him, though in the open-air sunshine, it probably wasn’t really necessary.

I’d paused for lunch and to photograph the river passing under the bridge. As I turned, I saw the man below. He looked a bit grumpy, but when I lifted the camera to request a photo, he smiled and gestured to go ahead.

My name is Gerald Murphy. I am a retired local government officer. At the time of my retirement I was an IT manager and had associated responsibilities for training. I had previously been involved, in various organisations, with aspects of industrial training and management development. My main hobby is photography and, until 2016, hillwalking in Snowdonia. Sciatica has put an end to mountain walks and, as a carer for my wife, opportunities for photography excursions are now more limited. Since July 2022, I have started using this site as a photobook.
