Eyeries – 3 Kilcatherine Point to Smugglers Cove

On one morning of our stay near Eyeries, I drove out for a photo-drive via Kilcatherine Point and around Beara Way towards Ardgroom. On this page I cover the trip as far as the Pulleem Loop and Smugglers Cove.

Beara Way, for much of its way, is basically a single-track road with a centre of raised grass that sometimes seems too high for comfort, but you do see some interesting sights worth stopping for.

In the distance you can see Ardgroom harbour. By now I’d driven across from County Cork into County Kerry.

I think that I took this shot at Smugglers’ Cove on the Pulleem Loop.

My name is Gerald Murphy. I am a retired local government officer. At the time of my retirement I was an IT manager and had associated responsibilities for training. I had previously been involved, in various organisations, with aspects of industrial training and management development. My main hobby is photography and, until 2016, hillwalking in Snowdonia. Sciatica has put an end to mountain walks and, as a carer for my wife, opportunities for photography excursions are now more limited. Since July 2022, I have started using this site as a photobook.
