In February 2017, my wife and I decided on a different (for us) weekend break. Margaret had come across photographs of a small, gated resort – just 8 chalets around a 24-acre lake surrounded by woodland.
The place was called Cleveley Mere and was just North of Garstang near Preston.
Our chalet, as did the others, had great views across the lake and there was a path that offered pleasant walks around the lake.

My wife was fascinated by the local birdlife visiting each morning to ask for breakfast.
