We’re off – to Anglesey

Well. yesterday I managed – despite my initial doubts – to complete all the tasks that I’d expected to take a week or so. All my old Blog posts are now deleted as are all the old archive articles; the sidebar has been streamlined to omit all references to the ebooks; my email address has been updated and I’ve reviewed an edited all the Menu pages. So, now we can begin this journey on the way to creating an online photobook.

What I propose to do is to start with the 100+ photographs that I compiled for a printed  photobook I produced last December which contained my favourite shots from 2018 onwards. As in the printed version, the places will all be in alphabetical order until, eventually , those pre-2022 photos are all online and I begin with my chosen shots from this year. Most days there will be just one image with some written commentary, while on some occasions – I can’t say how often – I’ll post some associated photos from that visit.

Today then we’re in Anglesey, an Island off the coast of North-West Wales in the UK. I’d gone mainly to photograph the Milky Way, but while I was there anyway, I drove and walked around other parts of the Island, beginning on Holy Island – a smaller island off the coast of the main island.

Holy Island may be small, but it sees a lot of traffic travelling to and from Anglesey’s port of Holyhead where ferries commute each day between the UK and Eire. Overhead also there is the sound of aircraft from the Royal Airforce military airport at RAF Valley.

On my first morning I stopped at Rhoscolyn and Bae Gwyn, before continuing to South Stack Lighthouse, featured as today’s photo – one of the UK’s most photographed lighthouses.

My name is Gerald Murphy. I am a retired local government officer. At the time of my retirement I was an IT manager and had associated responsibilities for training. I had previously been involved, in various organisations, with aspects of industrial training and management development. My main hobby is photography and, until 2016, hillwalking in Snowdonia. Sciatica has put an end to mountain walks and, as a carer for my wife, opportunities for photography excursions are now more limited. Since July 2022, I have started using this site as a photobook.
