Scotland Revisited #11

From Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre, we drove to the Glentrool Visitor Centre.

By the time we arrived it was time for lunch, which we bought at the Visitor Centre. As we sat, eating, we were struck by the tameness of the hundreds of wild birds – in the air, on the various feeders and just hopping about on the grass near our feet.

Close by where we were sitting we could see and hear water rushing over stones.

From the Visitor Centre, we drove a few miles along a winding single track road, past a couple of parking areas, to the layby we wanted.

From the layby, it was only a short walk up to find the Bruce Stone that we’d come to see.

Commemorating a 14th century victory over the English, the monument itself is less than a hundred years old.
