Rambling from Ravenstonedale to Orton #2

Continuing our ramble to Orton, at this point we’ve still got some reasonable paths to follow on our way to Smardale Bridge.

A footpath signpost worn by time but still legible shows us which way to go at a crossroads.

You can see from the ice that we’re still in February – and that we’re following a muddy trod path now.

The sheep don’t seem to mind the conditions.

The clouds are gathering too. You can see the path we’re following across the Moor from bottom right.

That map on the leaning signpost would have been more helpful if we could have got to it through the mud and water.
