Sunday morning canal walks

I was hoping to see some bluebells at Fairy Glen when I set out. The only ones that I saw were those shown in today’s featured photo. I’d headed homewards from Fairy Glen when I decided to pause at Appley bridge, a couple of miles south, for a walk along the Leeds to Liverpool canal. After I took the bluebells shot I walked a few hundred yards down the canal towards this lock and canal boat.

There didn’t seem much of immediate interest after the lock, so I returned to the car and continued on my way home, but paused again at Gathurst. I left the car in the empty railway station car park and walked back to re-join the canal at this lower stretch.

I took the shot with my Pentax K-1 36 MP full-frame camera using a 24-70 mm f/2.8 lens. The EXIF data were 1/50 secs @f/11 and 33 mm. ISO 100.
